I started 2023 off as I do with every start of the new year...reflecting, setting goals, planning, you know all that good stuff. This year I created a digital vision board to be used as my new background on my laptop. You know, so I can constantly see it, and it serves as a reminder of the goals I set out. Well, faith, family, travel, and blogging was all on the list. So, here we are with our 1st blog post of the year in April. LOL
All Things Work Together, Romans 8:28
September of last year I planned for my daughter and I to take our second mommy and daughter trip. Mommy and daughter trips are something we started last year. However, this blog post isn't about THOSE trips I'll save that for another post. Anyway! The plan was made without her knowledge for us to go to the Nickelodeon Resort in the Dominican Republic. Sis, was about to be flewed out. Lol. The plans were made, I purchased plane tickets, and started paying off the trip that was charged to my card. Then life happened.
Life happened just like this gif. I wasn't able to take the child as I had planned. I went back and forth if I should even go on the trip because it was scheduled to be a mommy and daughter trip. How was I going to look at the Nickelodeon Resort by myself? It just didn't sit right with me. So, I canceled the trip lost out on the 1st night of the resort stay. Listen, sis was hurt hurt I like my coins and don't like to be wasteful. But, losing out on one night compared to five was a steal, so thank you Jesus! Then it came to the plane tickets. Can I get a refund, change them out, maybe the hubby and I can ride out. Uh American Airlines hit me with the Iyana Vanzant.
So, now I got to cancel her flight with no refund or exchange. (Note to self: stay way from basic economy!) At this point I'm asking myself what's the point. Enter husbae, "Babe you always said you wanted to travel by yourself." I mean I did but I wasn't thinking my first solo trip would be out the country. Even though I told him I'd pass on the trip I was on Air BnB looking for places to stay in the Dominican Republic. I searched for places to stay and things to do and I hit the jackpot. I found this amazing condo for a great price and went for it.
This place was a complete oasis for 5 days and 4 nights. Although I was super upset about the events that lead up to this being a solo trip I knew God wanted this for me. Yup! It had to be, I mean everything worked out, I saved money even though I lost money. I needed this, I wanted this, and I truly believe God allowed it to be so because this was so much more than a vacation.
